As we move through our days, rushing here and there, always seemingly running late for this or for that, our senses become dulled to the barrage of information and signals desperately vying for our attention. More often than not, at least under the glow of the sun, this battle for our attention ends in a war of attrition.
It is when the golden tones of the sun disappear and the nocturnal activity of the fluorescent,
the neon and the spotlight begins that our eyes and our minds become captivated.
Against a black night sky, what once was ignored as it blended into the murky surroundings of similarly illuminated, sunlit nothingness, is now front and center, showcased for the world to see in all its 160 watt brilliance.
As mundane and generic as objects and locations appear to the passer by, someone feels it necessary to illuminate those same objects and locations throughout the night, hoping that they will be noticed.
So, let us not forget to stop down and take notice of the beauty, hidden by the luminance of the sun, but showcased as nightfall creeps in and takes over. Listen as a symphony of incandescent and fluorescent, neon and spotlight fill the air with a chorus that sings of their need for attention. Nighttime, most definitely, is the right time.
